2005 obituary. MADISON -- Lawrence G. Delano Sr., 79, died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at his home in Madison. He was born in Oakland on Jan. 6, 1926, the son of Jerry and Blanche (Merservey) Delano. Bob graduated from Madison High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. As a certified welder/fabricator, he was a member of Local Union No. 320 of Waterville, and had worked at various commercial construction sites, including paper mills and the Budweiser Brewery in Merrimack, N.H. He had also worked for W.H. Hinman Construction Co., International Paper of Jay as a millwright, and was a part-time instructor at Kennebec Valley Vocational Technical Institute in Waterville. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and the company of friends. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by a son, Lawrence G. "Larry" Delano II and his wife, Joyce, of Skowhegan; a stepson, Greg Conley and his wife, Deb, of Florida; a sister, Gloria J. Blier and her husband, Joseph, of Madison; a special friend, Mary Wolf of Madison; many nieces and cousins. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
