Charlie served in the United States Army from December 03, 1968 to Sep 05, 1970 as Military Police. He was assigned to West Point Naval Academy and a tour in Germany. He was awarded many medals. After his discharge from the Army, he attended and graduated from San Diego State University, Calexico Campus. Following his father's footsteps, he went to work for the United States Gypsum Company in Los Angeles.
After a few years working for USG, he took the Civil Service Test, and went to work at Barstow, California and then to NAS North Island, Coronado where he worked as a Lead Human Resources Specialist until he retired in January 2007.
He married Arline Martin in September 1980 and they have two children, Cristen and Todd.
After his retirement in 2007, he worked part time, enjoyed fishing and bowling with friends.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Arline, and their two children, Cristen and Todd, two sisters, Carol (Jim) Shinn, and Cheri (Mickey) Sanders, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, George and Sachiko Border, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
The Memorial Service and Reception will be held on Thursday, July 3rd, 2:00 p.m. at El Camino Memorial-Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd., San Diego. Pastor Jim Tucker of Brawley, California will officiate.
