Herbert Dale McCrorey, 92, a Pearl Harbor survivor, was born in Hunnewell, Missouri, enlisting in the Navy in 1937. During World War II he served on the USS Indianapolis. After the war, he received a B.S. in Business Management followed by graduate work in accounting where he excelled. Positions held included Comptroller and Administrative Officer Naval Sea Center Pacific and finished his career with the Inspector General. Herb is dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Shirley, his children Marsha Carper (Gary), Colleen Perkins (Brett), Larry McCrorey (Jackie), and Steve McCrorey, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and beloved family and friends. Herb was a kind, caring gentleman, a dedicated handyman and had a well-known sense of humor. Services will be held at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Chula Vista on Saturday, March 19th, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to San Diego Hospice, Lutheran World Relief, or Habitat for Humanity.
