William was born to Levi Garwood and Sarah Inskeep. He wed Elizabeth Brown in Logan County, Ohio on December 22, 1824. They had:
1) Adelia in Apr 1825
2) Levi On 2 Feb 1826
3) Benjamin Franklin on 1 May 1827
4) Mary Ann on 1 Oct 1829
5) Uceba N on 10 Aug 1831
6) Ruth on 17 Apr 1833
7) Roxanne on 7 Feb 1835
8) Caroline on 23 Jan 1837
9) William Wallace on 25 May 1839
10) Sarah Semantha on 4 Feb 1841
11) George on 26 Jul 1844

They moved to Cass County, Michigan in 1845. There they had:
12) John Thomas on 2 Dec 1846

In late 1860's William moved to Cass County, Missouri with wife Elizabeth and son John Thomas, where they show in the 1870 census. William returned to Cass County, Michigan and died there in early 1870's. Elizabeth died in Missouri about mid 1870. Son John went to Oregon, where he shows in the 1880 census.
