Of Horton, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, age 88. Virginia shared a life-long passion of music with her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert, who preceded her passing in 2008. She is sadly missed by her loving children, Robert Jr., Gary (Darlene), and Thomas (Susan); 7 grandchildren, Robert Firth III, Heather (Kelly) Redmond, Amanda (Matthew) Karsten, Joshua (Jessica) Firth, Amy (Kailash) Saini, Thomas J. Firth, and Robert (Alison) Shroads; 9 great grandchildren, a brother, Jack Rice; many nieces and nephews. Her extraordinary professional career spanned years of musical performances as both a sought after soloist, teacher and choral director. She was a long-standing member of Tuesday Musicale and extended herself into countless musical art programs both near and far. Her passion for teaching children leaves a legacy of wonderful musical memories throughout the community. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Wetherby Funeral Home with Reverend Sue Babb officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to Tuesday Musicale Scholarship Fund.
