When I, John, was about 12, I found Mom's rather ornate birth certificate in the family bible. There were cherubs in the corners and Mom's foot prints on the bottom. I asked her why the certificate said her middle name was Margaret when she went by Marguerite? She said that the doctor couldn't spell it so he put down Margaret. Dad overheard this and said, "Now I need to change every place I've listed your name to Martha M. Akard to keep it legal."
