U.S. Congressman. Immigrating to the United States in 1884, he spent a few years ranching in Texas and Mexico. Relocating to New York, in 1886, he then engaged in textile manufacturing. He was a member of the New York State Assembly, (1904-06) and director of the Amsterdam First National Bank. In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth Congress, serving until 1917. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his previous business interests until his death at age 88.
