Mary Susan Glenn Webb peacefully passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at her childhood home, Glendale Farm, near Columbia. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at Parker Funeral Home, followed by services beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Columbia Cemetery. Her parents, now deceased, were Frank Glenn and Mary Frances Glenn, also of Columbia. Her brother was Jack Thompson Glenn, also deceased. Growing up on the Two Mile Prairie, northeast of Columbia, she rode her horse, "Old Steve," to the one-room schoolhouse known as Judy School. In 1941, Susan graduated from Hickman High School, and in 1943, she graduated from Christian College with an associates degree in Arts. In the 1940's, Susan worked for Mrs. Thelma Mills, dean of women at Univeristy of Missouri-Columbia. She married Arthur Frederick Webb of St. Louis on June 2, 1946, at First Christian Church in Columbia. From 1946 through 2003, Susan resided in St. Louis, with husband Art and her two children, Frances Louise and Arthur Glenn. Susan was president of the Northwoods Garden Club; president to the children's elementary, middle and high school's Mother's Clubs; president to Chapter GX, P.E.O.; and a member of the Normandy School District Board of Education. She was an active memeber of Normadny United Methodist Chruch and previously Union Avenue Christian Church, both in St. Louis, and most recently a member of Olivet Christian Church in Columbia. Susan lived a life rich in creativity-as skilled at painting, drawing and printmaking as she was a sewing, needlepoint and dressmaking. She was a gifted homemaker, with a natural ability to make guests welcome in her beautiful home. An ever-adoring grandmother, she showed her gentle love and kindness to grandchildren Steven, Harrison and Oliva, alike. She made the world's most wonderful apple pie, as firmly attested to by both of her children. Susan is survived by her daughter, Frances Louise DeMaster and Harrison Glenn Webb and grandaughter Olivia Susann Webb; sister-in-law Elizabeth Glenn; nieces Jackie Glenn and Ginny Edgar; nephews Frank and John Glenn, all of Columbia; and numerous cousins in both St. Louis and Columbia. Susan lived a life of pure and simple goodness, sharing her graceful spirit and gentle smile with all who knew her. She left this world a better place.
