Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Crestview Wesleyan Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Alvin Brooks, Dr. Ron Hamilton and the Rev. Dan Neely officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Seagrove and a retired worker from Union Carbide.
Surviving are wife, Rose Hill Ashworth, of the home; daughter, Cheryl Hunt of Boone; son, Jerold Ashworth of Asheboro; brother, Lewis Ashworth of Seagrove; sisters, Hazel Corder of Seagrove, Violet Rush and Mildred Hunt, both of Asheboro, Myrtle Ray of Sneeds Ferry; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, other times at the home.
