Bette L. Hanson A native of Colorado Springs, Bette granduated from Colorado Springs High School (now Palmer), and continued to live in the area most of her life. In the late 1980's she (along with her then husband Sig Hanson) moved to Arizona and commuted as a snowbird until 2006, when they moved back to Colorado Springs full time. She succumbed to cancer on Monday, December 21, 2009 after several months undergoing pain management at the Pikes Peak Hospice. She is preceded in death by her daughter Linda Schmitt/Schendzielos and her 2nd husband Sig Hanson, and is now survived by her son Steve Schmitt (wife Lynda), five grand children, and 8 great-grand children. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Sunnyside Church (corner Murray & Constitution, Colorado Springs) at 10AM and then 2PM at Fort Logan Cemetery (Denver). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Pikes Peak Hospice in appreciation of the exemplary care she received while in their care.
