U.S. Congressman. After graduating from the U.S. School of Military Aeronautics in 1917, he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War I. After the war, he was in the engineering business, director of the Flushing National Bank and chairman of the Democratic County Committee, of Queens County, New York. During World War II, he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Entering politics after the war, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-ninth Congress, serving (1945-47). Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his former business interests until his death.
