U.S. Congressman. He was Mayor of Lestershire, New York, (1898-1901), postmaster of Lestershire, (1902-10), editor-publisher of the Record at Johnson City, (1898-1921) and a member of the New York State Senate, (1914-18). In 1919, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth Congress, serving until 1921. Not a candidate for reelection, he was appointed by Governor Smith, chairman of the New York State Parks Commission, serving (1925-33), also served as a trustee of Syracuse University and continued as a newspaper publisher until 1960.
