Brother Willie Woosley was born to the union of Harry and Lucy Murray Woosley. He attended school at Sand Flat in Emory. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Prairie Grove Baptist Church.
Brother Woosley met Arversia Sims in December 1928. They married on September 15, 1935.
He was involved in many activities of the church and also the community. He served on the Deacon board of Prairie Grove Church . He was Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School. He served as President of the Cemetery Committee. He was a Youth Director. He received a certificate of attendance at Cypress Association for faithful service. He was President of the food committee on mens day. He was Worshipful Master of Prairie Grove Lodge #185. He had the distinction of being the FIRST BLACK TO SERVE ON RAINS COUNTY JURY. He was a carpenter. He was employed by B.B. Locker Plant about 30 years. He served on F.H.A. Committee. At the time of his illness he was working for the City of Emory as part of the STEP program.
He departed life at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Arversia; one daughter, Bettie Woosley; one Grand-daughter, Iakia Woosley; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
