William Riley Dougan was the 5th of about 13 children born to Samuel and Mary (Erwin) Dougan. His father's family had moved up to Gibson Co., IN around 1830 or so where his parents were married in 1832. William married Mary Ann Montgomery on 25 Oct 1860 in Gibson Co., IN and they had four children before Mary Ann's death: Willis Wesley, Mary Etta, Anna Belle and Rosa. William then married Margaret A.E. (Vaught) Kenney Odell on 18 Jul 1878 in Gibson Co., IN. They had three children: James Albert, Ida Mae and William Samuel. William R. Dougan died on Christmas day in 1904 from pnuemonia.
