North Dakota Governor. After graduating from Concordia College, he relocated to Eddy County, North Dakota and built a successful homestead in 1895. Entering politics, he was a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives (1917-19), served in the North Dakota State Senate (1919-31), and was the 16th Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota (1933-34). On July 17, 1934, Governor William Langer was removed from office and Olson was sworn in as a Republican the 18th Governor of North Dakota, serving until 1935. During his brief term, demonstrators marched at the state capitol and the National Guard was called in to put down the protest. After leaving office, he retired from politics but remained active in the Farmers Union Livestock Commission and the Farmers Union, until his death.
