Patrick was born in Nuremberg, Germany, and is the son of the late Norman R. Roy of Warwick, RI and the late Madeline (Coyne) Roy of Sausalito, CA (originally from Warrington, England), and a stepson of the late Mary (Nen) Roy of Warwick, RI. He resided in Providence, RI and then in Eureka, CA.
Patrick was married to Iris (Wright) Roy. They have two children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Patrick served as a police officer in the Eureka, CA Police Department for nine years and was also a self-employed dog trainer.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He served three tours of duty. During his time in the Marine Corp Patrick received the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the Presidential Unit Citation with three Bronze Stars. Patrick was buried with military honors.
