Delphia B. Hinton, 93, of Hiawatha passed away on July 3, 2011 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital. Delphia was born on December 26, 1917 at Axtell, Kansas the daughter of Henry F. Boydston and Mary Tamsy (Sowder) Boydston. She attended the Rock Creek Country School near Axtell, Kansas.

Delphia and Gottlieb H. Hinton were married on January 9, 1936. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary before Gottlieb's death on October 11, 2002. She worked for Holton Garment Factory of 23 years and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union in Kansas City. Delphia and Gottlieb enjoyed camping and were members of the Traveling Tepees and Good Sam Camping clubs for 25 years. Delphia was a member of the Fairview United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild. They moved to Hiawatha Maple Grove apartments in March of 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gottlieb; two daughters, Glenda Barben and Delores Banks; a great grandson, Dalton Decker; 3 brothers and 6 sisters. Delphia is survived by a son, Gene and his wife, Arlena of Topeka, Kansas; a sister, Ruby Watkins of Sabetha, and 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.
