James R. Riley, 72, of Macon, died Monday, Sept. 26, 1988, at Samaritan Memorial Hospital in Macon.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Hutton and McElwain Funeral Home at Macon with the Rev. William A. Knowles officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at Macon. Visitation will be from 2-4 and from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
He was born Feb. 27, 1916, at Macon, the son of James and Birdie Ledford Riley. On Nov. 22, 1969, at Chicago, Ill., he married Mary Lou McDonnell who survives of the home.
Also surviving is a son, Jerry Riley of Valparaiso, Ind.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Riley of California and Harold Riley of Tennessee; a step-son, Danny Reed of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; two step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He had been preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Opal Riley and Lois Powers, and one brother, Floyd.
He was born and raised in this area. He moved to Chicago in the 1940's, and later moved to Macon in 1982. He was employed by the Verson All Steel Press in Chicago until his retirement. He was a methodist.
