Ellen Kay Henderson, age 54, Joplin, went home to be with the Lord at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at her home.

Ellen was born Aug. 12, 1956, in Joplin, to Verna McCurley Long and the late Harry R. Long, Sr. and had lived in Joplin all her life.

She worked as a C.N.A. for several area nursing homes. She later worked at Payroll Advance for seven years and most recently was manager at Missouri Loan Center since 2006. She was raised in the Nazarene faith.

Ellen married Don Henderson on July 12, 1998, in Miami, Okla. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her children, Debbie Henderson, Joplin, Mandy Shuey, Iowa, Donny Henderson III and his wife, Amanda, Joplin, Terry Shuey, Jr. and his wife, Shelly, Joplin, and Jeremy Shuey and his wife, Missy, Joplin; her mother, Verna Long, Joplin; one brother, Harry Long Jr.and wife Cheryl, Joplin; four sisters, Martha Anne Santos and husband Craig, Los Angeles, CA, Alice Tyler and husband Blake, Joplin, Juanita Fasse, Galena, Kan., and Jackie Curl, Joplin; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Ellen was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Teresa.

Services will be Thursday at 5 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Pallbearers will be Harry Long, Jr., Donny Henderson III, Terry Shuey Jr., Jeremy Shuey and Zach Piquignot.
