Lubbock, Lubbock Co., TX—Thursday, 12 October 1911
Miss Millie Lou Alford, sister of Mrs. J.O. Roberts, of this city died at the home of her sister, Saturday morning [October 7], after a lingering illness of about two years and a half.
Miss Alford was 34 years of age, was born in Gunnersville, Ala., in which state she resided till she came to Texas with Mr. Roberts and family. She returned to her native state last year with the hopes of getting relief for her ailment, but did not seem to improve and returned to Lubbock last month, and remained with her sister till death relieved her at the time mentioned above.
She was a consistent member of the Baptist church of which denomination she had been recognized for a number of years.
She leaves a brother, O.H. Alford of Gadsden, Ala., and her sister, Mrs. J.O. Roberts at this place, also another sister in Alabama, her father having died when she was a small girl and her mother a few years later.
The funeral services were held at the cemetery Saturday afternoon by Rev. Jno. A. Arbuckle, Baptist pastor at this place. and the remains laid tenderly to rest by loving friends.
