Ruth Hanson was born June 10, 1910, to Ingvall and Blanche Arnold Hanson on a farm 12 miles North of Glenham, South Dakota. She attended country school and graduated from Glenham High School in 1929. She continued to live at home until her marriage to Louis E. Johnson on June 1, 1935, at Selby. They farmed 10 miles North of Glenham until 1939 when they moved to a farm on Grand Crossing, nine miles North of Mobridge. They lived there until 1942, when they moved to a farm nine miles Northeast of Mobridge. They lived there until retirement in March 1954, when they moved into Mobridge and have lived there since. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of the Church of God, and taught at the Grand Crossing School from 1946 to 1951.
Survivors include her husband, Louis of Mobridge; one son, Bruce of Corvalis, OR; one daughter, Mrs. Richard E. (Sylvia) Chessmore of Gillette, Wyoming; two brothers, Harry Hanson of Gordon, NE, and Albert Hanson of Mobridge; one sister, LouEtta Monroe of Duncanville, TX; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents.
