John Richard Fury was born in West Long Branch, New Jersey. He passed away May 12, 2003 in San Diego, Ca. from complications due to renal cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother Justine Pearsall-Fury, father Frank Fury Sr. and wife Debra Deason-Fury. He is survived by his loving son Frank J. Fury; sister Laraine Hubbard; brother Frank Fury Jr. and sister Sherrill Brown.

John is a veteran of the United States Navy. In 1954 he was appointed to the Federal Civil Service. He resided in San Diego and in 1967 went to work for the Department of the Navy/Department of Defense where for 32 years he was a highly respected radar specialist. John's technical knowledge and expertise earned him the respect and esteem of his fellow workers and peers. He retired in 1999. John will long be remembered for his outstanding support of the "Pacific Fleet."

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the "San Diego Hospice" 4311 Third Ave. San Diego, CA. Family and friends are invited to show their respect on Thursday, May 29, 2003 from 4-7pm at the El Cajon Mortuary, 684 S. Mollison Ave., El Cajon. Graveside services are Friday, May 30, 2003 at 1pm at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Ca. Published in The San Diego Union Tribune on May 25, 2003.
