The daughter of John Clark Taylor and his wife Rachel Cole.

Betsy came with her family while still a child to Warren Co., Indiana.

Betsy married 1st 19 Oct 1837, Warren Co., Indiana to Samuel Kerr.

12 Oct 1838 - Champaign Co., IL - Samuel Kerr with Walter Roades and Smith Halbert to appraise estate of John Manning.

From the 1890 biography of son Russell:
"He is the offspring of an excellent family, being the son of Samuel and Betsy Ann (Taylor) Kerr, who were natives respectively of Ohio and Kentucky. Both parents removed to Indiana in their youth and in that State were married. In 1836 they settled in Champaign County, Ill., and were among its earliest pioneers, taking up land from which the Indians had just departed. Upon the north and west of them there was not a settler for twenty miles. Deer, wolves and various other kinds of wild animals were plentiful. The elder Kerr entered 500 acres of land from the (government and when his township was organized, it was named in his honor.... The paternal ancestors of Mr. Kerr were originally from Scotland, and a paternal granduncle served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War until its close and was afterward a member of the United States Senate. On his mother's side Grandfather John Taylor, was a second cousin of President Zachary Taylor, and a member of the Kentucky Legislature."

Betsy married 2nd 28 Dec 1856, Danville, Champaign Co., IL to Daniel Allhands. He was born in Butler Co., OH, son of Daniel and Patience Allhands. He had previously been married to Sarah C. Brady, who died in Vermilion Co., IL. They had children Mary Melissa Johnson, Elizabeth Patience Rardin, Christain B Allhands, Marshall J. Allhands,and Perry C. Allhands
