Lemuel Andrews, son of Joseph, Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth Beckwith, born 9th of April, 1747, married 1779, Sarah Newell; they lived at the south end of Southington, where he was occupied many years as a miller. Sarah, His wife, died 3d Sept., 1807, aged 56, when second, he married Abigail, the widow of Eli Andrews, and daughter of Merrill, of New Hartford. Abigail died 11th March, 1821, age 70. Mr. Andrews died 18th May, 1825, aged 78. His uncle, Capt. Obadiah Andrews, was his guardian, after his father's death, until his majority. He seems to have been a resident of New Hartford, for 10th Oct 1783, he says, "I, Lemuel Andrews, of New Hartford, for L159 5s of Pelatiah Richards, of said town, sell to him one acre, with house and barn, &c.;" and the 7th of April, 1784, in deeding a piece of land, lying in New Hartford, to the same man, he says, "I, Lemuel Andrews of Farmington," and more definite still, the town record of Farmington says, 'that among those to provide for soldier's families, in 1782, was Lemuel Andrews, of said town." Sarah, his first wife, united to the Congregational church, 5th Sept., 1795, in Southington."
