Mason Brooks Montgomery, Sr. 80 of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2010 at his home. Mr. Montgomery was born in Carroll County to the late William Henry Harrison Montgomery & Valeria Stilwell Montgomery. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife Edna Goad Montgomery of the home; daughters & son-in-law Bonnie Brooks Montgomery and Bonita & John Williams all of Hillsville; son Mason Brooks Montgomery, Jr. of Hillsville; sister Canary Grimsley of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Laura Mead & husband Matt, Alison Williams, Edward Montgomery, Todd Williams, and Chelsea Montgomery; great granddaughter Haven Mead; step granddaughter & spouse Sunshine & Andy Andrews; and step great-granddaughter Madison Andrews.

Mr. Montgomery served the citizens of Carroll County as Clerk of Circuit Court for 24 years and prior to that was Deputy Commissioner for 8 years. He was a past member of the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Galax Moose Lodge. Mr. Montgomery was also a 32 Degree Mason and a 50 year Masonic Veteran. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in the Isaac Webb Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge 193 AF & AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
