James R Randolph, 52, proprietor of the general store at Kibbie, seven miles northwest of Oblong, fatally shot himself at about 7 o'clock last Thursday morning while alone in the upstairs of his store. Mr Randolph was known to have been depressed since the death of his son Robert, last February. This together with other matters about which he had been worrying is believed to have been the cause of suicide.

The deceased is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs Russell, a son, Harry, his father Calvin Taylor Randolph of Oblong vicinity, three sisters Mrs Carmen Gifford of Yale, Mrs Wilbur Johnson of Oblong, Stell Dedrick of Oblong, and two brothers, Everett of Kell, Illinois, and Hosea of Gridley, Kansas.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Oblong Central Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev E W Fox officiating, assisted by Rev Thomas. Burial was made in the Oblong Cemetery.
