EX-SHERIFF MARSH DEAD.
Capt. Joseph L. Marsh, of Boone township, died at the home of his son last Thursday after a long illness from a complication of diseases. For some time he had been in such condition as to make it very difficult to properly care for him, being at times almost beyond control of anyone.
"Uncle Joe," as he was familiarly known, was 87 years of age, was a soldier in the late civil war, and served as First Lieutenant of the 50th Indiana Volunteers. He served this county as Sheriff for four years, from 1880 to 1884, and made a good officer. His wife died during his residence here in Corydon while Sheriff. He was a man of singular personality, honest and upright, and had many friends in the county, who will regret to learn of his death.
