Walter was born to A.W. Hill and Bessie Hill and had 5 brothers and two sisters. He is survived by Robert Steven and wife, Ginger; Barbara Gail Smith and husband, Henry; Panda Mae Flen and husband, David; and Paula Hill Shafer and husband, Roger. He is also survived by grandchildren, Melissa Sanders, Celeste Ashley, Michelle Shaeffer, Jonathan Smith, Lance Smith, Cara Turnbow, J. Smith, Michael Hill, Jonathan Flen and Christopher Flen. HE is also survived by his sister Eula Webb of Lancaster, Texas.
He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Lucille in 1999 and a son, Charles David. Also preceding him in death was his mother and father: five brothers, Jessie, Ernest, Harvey, Alvis and Emory, and one sister, Julia Fojtic.
Since his death, his surving sible, Eula passed in 2009.

He was a man who loved his wife, children and all the grandchildren. He was unselfish to them and all children who needed. He was also a very patriotic man and never missed voting and was a radio man in the Coast Guard on a submarine destroyer in the Pacific during World War II. He and his wife, Lucille were faithful in the Church of Christ.

He and Lucille were very outdoors people and spent a lot of time in the mountains and arrow head hunting.
