Floyd Eugene Zalman, the son of Elizabeth (Schultz) and Henry August Zalman, was born April 11, 1919 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. He departed this life on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 24 days.

Floyd spent his early years in Webster county, where he received his formal education. On January 4, 1933 he was married to Opal Elliott and this union was blessed with a son, Dean, and a daughter, Rhonda. The marriage later ended. Floyd farmed in the Red Cloud area from 1938 until 1957, when he began his career as an iron worker with Local #10 Kansas City. He made his home at Topeka, until 2007, when he returned to Red Cloud.

In his leisure time he enjoyed wood working and he had built many beautiful things during his retirement years. He also enjoyed dancing and throwing horseshoes. He possessed a quick wit and a keen sense of humor. He liked to share jokes and always looked forward to time spent with family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Glen and Walter Zalman; sisters, Theda Devlin, Dorothy Ellison and Esther Eye, and daughter-in-law, Pam Zalman on September 15, 2009.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Dean Zalman of Red Cloud; daughter, Rhonda Sherman of Topeka, Kansas; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildrenand a host of relatives and friends.

Graveside memorial services were at the Red Cloud Cemetery, Red Cloud, NE.
