Funeral Services For Harvey Carlson Saturday Afternoon

Harvey Carlson, a highly respected resident of Rockwood township since 1918, passed away at his farm home Tuesday night, May 5, 1959 after a long illness at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Harvey Carlson was born in Sweden September 21, 1881 and came to Chicago, Ill. With his parents in 1893. He attended school in that city and was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church in 1898. Mr. Carlson worked in a sheet metal and glazing work in Chicago until coming to Rockwood inn 1918, where he bought a farm and where he lived up to the time of his death.
He was married to Florence Proesel in Chicago in 1910 and three children were born to this union and three children were born to this union and two daughters (Alice) Mrs. George Hajdich, of Lansing, Ill. And (Betty) Mrs. John Sandgren, of Minneapolis, survive. Harvey’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Carlson; one brother, Gust Carlson and two sisters preceded him in death. His beloved wife, two daughters; two brothers, Axel of Rockwood township and Andrew of Minneapolis; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews survive, together with a host of friends who mourn the passing of a fine and kindly man.
Deceased was public spirited and served his community in any capacity he was called upon. He served as clerk of school district No. 18 for a great many years. He held the respect of all who knew him and cheery word for all. Quiet and unassuming he did his work well and neighbors came to depend on his judgement and kindly advice.
Funeral services for this exemplary citizen were held at Trinity Lutheran church in Sebeka Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, with Rev. Carl W. Jepson officiating, and a large number of friends attended the last rites to honor a true departed friend. Interment was in the village cemetery and the pallbearers were Lester Erickson, Leo and Walter Brockpahler, Alois Kempf, Burke Mersinger and Paul Putzke.
Out of town people attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Pearson and Andrew Carlson of Minneapolis.
