The following information was taken from WVA Certificate of Death #14033, dated 23 Aug 1951--and information gathered from the genealogy data base of FIND A GRAVE member Big $TICK, #46833858.

Charles Clinton Stickles, age 73, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home near Middleway, WV close to 12 PM midnight. The attending physcian was Dr. William P. Warden and burial was on 25 Aug 1951 in the Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, Clarke Co., VA. Charles had lived and raised a family with his wife Ella Blanche (Smallwood) Stickles there in Middleway vicinity over the past 30 years.

Charles was the second child from the marriage of Thomas Wm. Stickles and Margaret "Maggie" (Haws) Stickles; a step-brother Simon Michael Stickles (b: 16 Feb 1873; d: 5 Dec 1917); a sister Lola Lee (Stickles) Popkins (b: 21 Mar 1877, d: 18 Feb 1912) all predeceased him. Henry Asa Stickles (b: 12 Apr 1883, d: 25 Feb 1965)-- is believed to be a cousin with whom he was raised with. Charles and Ella Blanche (Smallwood) were married on 23 Oct 1901 in Clarke Co., VA; Charles age was listed as 21 yrs old, and his birth location and residence were Clarke Co., VA. Ellie Blanche was listed as 20 yrs old, and her birth, residence were listed as Clarke Co., VA. Charles and Ella's are said to have had nine children (five daughters and four sons) and numerous nieces and nephews remain.
The body was taken to the residence at Middleway late in the day of 23 Aug and remained there until Saturday, 25 Aug 1951 at which time it was returned to the "Melvin T. Strider Company Funeral Chapel" for services beginning at 2 PM. The Rev. T. E. Richardson of the Jefferson Circuit Methodist Churches conducted the service.
