LaVerne Elizabeth Vain, 71, of Taneytown, formerly of Catonsville, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia.

Born Jan. 18, 1940, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Dorothy Klemm Flora. She was the wife of Jack LeRoy Vain, her husband of 47 years.

She and her husband had known each other since they were 11 years old, growing up in the same neighborhood in Baltimore. She was a part-time secretary for a printing company. She had attended Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown since moving to Carroll Vista.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children Gordon Wolfarth and wife Jennifer, of Silver Run, Jack Vain Jr. and Cathy Smith, of Hanover, Pa., and Brian Vain and wife Joely, of Buffalo, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Shaun, Maribeth, and Jenna Vain, and Chuck Dandy.

She was predeceased by siblings Herman and Leona Flora.

A funeral service was held the Myers Durboraw funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. W. Louis Piel officiating. Interment was in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore.
