Burton enlisted on 14-Apr-90 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, by Capt. Dodd. As a Private, he was assigned to troop to date Nov. 28, per Order 88, Headquarters 7 Cav. Camp at Pine Ridge Agency, S. Dak. Dec. 6, 90. Joined troop at Pine Ridge Agency, S. Dak. Dec. 6, '90.
Burton served at the Battle of Wounded Knee, on December 29, 1890, the last major confrontation between the US Army and North American Indians.
