Jay Q. Biscombe, Box 45-F, R.D. 3 Drums, died Monday evening at the Veterans Hospital Hospice in Wilkes-Barre after a lengthy illness. Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Albertus and Charlotte (Long) Biscombe. He conducted the B. Biscombe Insurance Agency in Hazleton until 1967 at which time he became associated with auto sales in the Philadelphia area until his retirement in 1980. He was a 1937 graduate of Hazleton High School and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater of War. He was active in youth work at St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was also associated with the Kiwanis Club, the YMCA and local boy Scout troops. He is survived by his wife, the former Marie Reisenweaver; three sons, Barry R., Charlotte, N.C.; Robert J., North Bay, N.Y.; and D. Lee, Jeffersonville; five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Audrey Bates, Hazleton. Memorial services will be held Friday at 3 pm in St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johns, with the Rev. Joseph Scholtes Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The John H. Rosenstock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
