She had lived in Bennington all her life.
At the time of her death she was the president of the Plain Dirt Gardeners.
She was a graduate of the House in the Pines School, Bradford Junior College and the University of Vermont.
During World War II, she worked in Montpelier for the Red Cross, and later at Presque Isle, Maine for Northeastern Airlines.
She was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and had been chairman of the 1974 parish fair of that church.
She leaves her husband, three daughters, one son, two grandchildren and a cousin.
