Frank was the son of Frank and Beth Carey, great nephew of TJ McNevin. He attended Poly High and St. Anthony's, City College and Loyola University. He served in the Navy during WWII and later took over his father's accounting firm. He died at age 59 of Pancreatic cancer. He married Ruth Anne Shaughnessy in 1948, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Long Beach, CA. They had four children: Susan (1950-) Nancy (1952-) Sandra (1954-) and Michael (1959-). He had six grandchildren at the time of his death.
