Son of Warren Cornell Hicks and his wife Elizabeth Allen Fagan, both born in New York. He died July 28, 1913, at Rice Lake, Barron County, Wisconsin, aged 77 years, 10 months and 23 days, and was buried there in Nora Cemetery. George was married twice. His first marriage was to Helen Hardy, who died July 2, 1865, while he was in the army. He found out she was dead and buried upon his return home from the army. No known children. Helen was known to have had one brother, George J, Hardy, who in 1912, was 75 years of age and living in Cadott, Chippewa County, Wisconsin. On Oct. 25, 1868, George married Mary Lindsay. She was born Aug. 16, 1838, at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, and died February 26, 1917, at Roseau, Roseau County, Minnesota. They were the parents of one child, a adopted daughter, named Nellie Howard-Hicks, date of birth is July 1874 at Augusta, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin.
