Fred W. Sauer was born November 7, 1904, in Carpio, the son of Joseph and Katherine Sauer. He was reared in the St. Henry's area of Renville County, in the Foxholm-Carpio area which is now Lake Darling. He married Veronica Bock June 19, 1928, in Foxholm. They farmed in the Foxholm area and later moved to Foxholm, where he operated the Standard Oil Gas Station until he retired. They moved to Minot shortly before he died.
