Claude Padgett of Shelburn was in this vicinity Saturday evening holding an inquest over the remains of Francis Smith who lives four miles northeast of Carlisle and who committed suicide at his residence Saturday morning by taking carbolic acid and only lived about a half hour afterwards.
The cause of the act is unknown. Services were held at the Mt. Moriah church Monday morning at eleven o'clock. Remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Moriah cemetery. He leaves a father, mother, two brothers, three sisters, a widow, two sons, four daughters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
