She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard L. Evans of Fayette, AL, her parents, her brothers, Luther Willard Knight of Florida, Charles Meekins Knight of Stumpy Point, NC and sisters, Margaret Knight and Ruth Rae Knight Flowers-Martin of Manteo, NC. And several nieces, nephews and cousins of NC, as well as a step-grandson Jon D. Earley of Jasper, AL.
She is survived by an only son, Grady L. Evans, his wife Kimberly Waites Evans of Fayette, AL, three Step-grandchildren Timothy Gallups, Courtney Gallups and Jeremy Gallups and one step-great-grandson, Rylan A. Anderson.
She grew up on Roanoke Island, NC and spent a few years in "The Lost Colony" outdoor drama in Manteo, NC. She moved to Portsmouth, VA and worked for S.S. Kresge Department Stores, F.W. Woolworth Department Stores and Roses Department Stores. While there she met her husband of 43 years, till his death in 1996. After he retired from the Norfolk Navel Shipyard in 1971 they moved to Fayette, AL, his hometown, to live out their years and raise their only child.
She was laid to rest beside her husband, Leonard L. Evans at Fayette Memorial Gardens in Fayette, AL on Easter Sunday April 8, 2012. Bro. David Wilson and Bro. Paul Busby held
her services and The Busby Family provided the music.
