Mr. Toomey fought for the Confederacy with the 2nd Louisiana Brigade. He moved his family to Texas in 1876.

Mr. Toomey died sometime after November 1889 and before June 1890, most likely in Dallas. According to an article in The Dallas Morning News in 1891 Mr. Toomey is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery. I am assuming that is a former name of Calvary Cemetery. The article was not reporting on his death, so the date of death is not known.

Note: His name has appered as D. Lally, Delally, D. L., and De Lally in various records and newspaper articles.
