Frederick (Friedrich) Krenkler, also known as Fred or Fritz, passed away on July 2, 2011 at home due to cancer.

He is survived by his wife Verna L. Krenkler (nee Kusmaul) and his daughters Margaret Sue Zimmerman and husband Harry, Jeannette Bell and husband Bob, Evelyn E. Hamilton and husband Clifton, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, the mother of his children, Margaret T. Krenkler (nee Jekay) and his brother, William O. Krenkler.

Frederick was born Feb. 25, 1924 to Friedrich and Karoline (nee Veit) Krenkler in Hedelfingen, Germany. He attended and received his education in mechanical arts at Olney High School and in mechanical engineering at Drexel Institute of Technology, both in Philadelphia, Penn.

He was the founder and owner of Bekay Mfg. Co., in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, Penn. He held a commercial glider pilot's license and was a member of the Soaring Society of America and owner of a two-place sailplane, along with holding the rating of a commercially licensed soaring pilot.

Frederick served his country proudly in WWII European combat with the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Platoon of the 222nd Infantry Regiment, 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division, as a Regimental Interpreter. He was a life member of the Rainbow Division Veterans Memorial Association and also served as president of the 222nd Infantry Chapter of the RDVMA. He is a member of and has many friends in the Olney Trailblazers Social Club of Philadelphia, Penn., formed by a group of young Lutheran men shortly after WWII.

As a sailplane pilot and a Rainbow Division veteran, he has taken his final glide over the rainbow to his home field in Heaven.
