you are hereby notified that as the widow of Harry V. Davis, Sergt. Co. H. 7th Inf. who died April 27, 1920 as a result of injuries received in the line of duty in the military service of the United States, you are awarded compensation in the amount of $25.00 per month, from the 28th day of April, 1920, in accordance with the Act of Congress of 6 October 1917, and amendments thereto.

I didn't make it clear to you about Lucy's boy when I said she told John that he was Leonards boy--I was refering to Billie Davis, the child I listed on the family tree. You, nor your Father, probably didn't know she had him until he was 14 years old, and she brought him to her folks in Caney. Neither did any one in the family.
But before she brought him home, he was raised in a Catholic Children Home, and he couldn't live there after 14 years old.
Please don't think I am condeming Lucy, but I think you should know and I told you I would tell the truth. Lucy was my favorite of all her sisters and may she rest in peace.

Ada Clark Passes Away
Ada L. Coltharp Clark, 74, died Sept 30 in a Los Angeles hospital. She had resided in Los Angeles 34 years.
Mrs. Clark, spent her girlhood in Caney. She was a daughter of Alice Scott Coltharp and Lewis Coltharp and she was born March 31, 1898 in Missouri.
Funeral services will be conducted in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Caney, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery under direction of Graves Funeral Home.
Mrs Clark was married to Frank Clark in 1951 in Mexico. He died in 1961.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lola Malstrom, Hutchinson, Kan., and Mrs Eva Burns, Dallas, Tex., two brothers, Ralph Coltharp, Caney, and Ray Coltharp, Elgin, Kan., and three grandchildren.
Fr. Justin Betzen will be in charge of the funeral services.
Nephews will serve as casket bearers. They include Forrest Coltharp, Darrell Coltharp, Leonard Coltharp, Dale Coltharp, Steve Coltharp, and Gary Coltharp.

John said Lucy was living in Memphis, Tenn. for a long time before Gene was born, and the family believe Lucy came to a small town N.E. of Caney that was known for taking care of girls that had a child out of wedlock. (note: Gene is my dad Charles Eugene Oyler, born 1919 who was adopted by Charles and Ruby Coltharp Oyler.)

I didn't make it clear to you about Lucy's boy when I said she told John that he was Leonards boy--I was refering to Billie Davis, the child I listed on the family tree. You, nor your Father, probably didn't know she had him until he was 14 years old, and she brought him to her folks in Caney. Neither did any one in the family.
But before she brought him home, he was raised in a Catholic Children Home, and he couldn't live there after 14 years old.
Please don't think I am condeming Lucy, but I think you should know and I told you I would tell the truth. Lucy was my favorite of all her sisters and may she rest in peace.

Ada Clark Passes Away
Ada L. Coltharp Clark, 74, died Sept 30 in a Los Angeles hospital. She had resided in Los Angeles 34 years.
Mrs. Clark, spent her girlhood in Caney. She was a daughter of Alice Scott Coltharp and Lewis Coltharp and she was born March 31, 1898 in Missouri.
Funeral services will be conducted in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Caney, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery under direction of Graves Funeral Home.
Mrs Clark was married to Frank Clark in 1951 in Mexico. He died in 1961.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lola Malstrom, Hutchinson, Kan., and Mrs Eva Burns, Dallas, Tex., two brothers, Ralph Coltharp, Caney, and Ray Coltharp, Elgin, Kan., and three grandchildren.
Fr. Justin Betzen will be in charge of the funeral services.
Nephews will serve as casket bearers. They include Forrest Coltharp, Darrell Coltharp, Leonard Coltharp, Dale Coltharp, Steve Coltharp, and Gary Coltharp.
