The various ages given for Ernest on Census reports and other documents place his birth year anywhere from 1857 to 1867. However, on the 1890 census the birth month and year are given as Nov. 1857. According to Ernest's marriage license to his second wife, he was born to James Charles Flood of Dublin, Ireland and Harriette Molyneux of Hereford, England. A manifest from the S.S. State of Georgia shows that he arrived in N.Y. Nov. 1, 1879 and is listed as a student in the 1880 census in Augusta County, VA. He had to move many times in his career for the P.P. & U. and Great Northern Railways. His positions took him from Augusta County, VA to St. Paul, MN, Chicago and Peoria, IL, Great Falls, MT. & Spokane, WA. On 11/27/1889 he married the widow Florence Rushworth Lyon in Chicago. She passed away in 1908. By 1908 he is listed as a lawyer with the firm Munter (Judge Adolph) and Flood. He then remarried to Caroline Adele Warner, a teacher, on 2/10/1912. Caroline was originally from Syracuse, N.Y. They are shown as moving from Spokane to Bonner's Ferry, ID in 1915 and moved again to Wenatchee, WA where he was the manager of the Valley Title Co. He had no biological children. After he died Caroline moved to Trenton, N.J in 1950 to live with her sister and died there on Mar. 6, 1958.
