W. W. Deitz, nominee for sheriff, was born at Saratoga Springs, N.Y., 43 years ago. Came to Wisconsin in 1855 and to Barron county in 1871. In 1877 he was elected sheriff and filled the office with great credit to himself; he was sheriff again in 1887, and his administrations were both characterized by efficiency and economy. He acted as deputy sheriff under Sheriffs Barton and Speed and has been marshal of the city of Rice lake 11 years.

Mr. Deitz is thoroughly familiar with every detail of the business of the sheriff's office and he will make a model officer. His record as a vote-getter is an enviable one, and his official record as sheriff of Barron county leaves no doubt in the minds of the people as to his ability to discharge the duties of the sheriff's office efficiently, economically and for the best interests of all the people. [Thursday, Sep. 3, 1896, Cumberland Advocate, Cumberland, Wisconsin.]
