US Congressman. He graduated from the law department of Washington University Missouri, in 1870, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Troy, Missouri. In 1889, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-first and Fifty-second Congresses, serving until 1893. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and engaged in agricultural pursuits, until his death at age 68.
