Ruth Skeen (Martin) Perkins, 66, of Grand Island died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at home with her loving family by her side. Ruth was born July 10, 1945, at Grand Island to Joseph and Alvira (Cornelius) Martin.
Survivors are: husband, Chuck Perkins; son, Alan Skeen of Grand Island; daughter and son-in-law, Gaylene and Rick Olsen of Grand Island; stepchildren, Cori Perkins and Bill Rork, Teri (Chris) Brown, AJ (Matt) Hodtwalker, all of Grand Island, Melissa (Brent) Weston of Hastings and Andy Perkins of Pensacola, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bob Cordes of York; sister-in-law, Joyce Martin of Ft. Collins, Colo; grandchildren, Courtney Yockey, Emily Richardson, Corinna Cunning and Sara Cunning; stepgrandchildren, Chad Olsen, Cahle Olsen, Jerad Olsen, Megan Olsen, James Brown, Anna Brown, Dallas Brown, Triston Weston, Isabelle Weston and Dillon Rork.
Ruth was welcomed into heaven by her first husband, Byron Skeen; her parents; brother, John Martin; daughter, Jolene Skeen; grandson, Joseph Skeen and great-grandsons, Trea and Hunter Richardson.
Ruth was raised and received her education in Grand Island where she graduated from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1963. She was united in marriage to Byron W. Skeen on Aug. 31, 1963. They made their home in Grand Island where she worked as a school secretary at Jefferson Elementary retiring after 30 years. Mr. Skeen died on Nov. 14, 2003. She married Chuck Perkins on July 24, 2010.
Ruth was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where she sang in the church choir. She was a TEAM Mates volunteer and member of the Platt Duetsche and the Saddle Club. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, dining-out and most of all spending time with family.
Burial was in the Westlawn Cemetery, Grand Island, NE.
