OBIT TAKEN FROM STURGIS JOURNAL. Edith Lucille Beers, 86, formerly of Fawn River Apartments, Sturgis, MI., died December 18, 2002, at the Heartland Center, Three Rivers, MI. She was born March 22, 1916, in Wolcottville, IN. a daughter of Joshua and Blanch(Acker) Pridgeon, and made her home in Centreville before moving to Sturgis in 1934. Edith attended the Quail Trap Grade School and Centreville High School. In 1934 she married Roy Beers. Edith was a homemaker, and she had been employed at a nursing home for a short time. She was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Auziliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #1314. Surviving are one daughter, Treasa Beers Smith and her husband, Lynn D. of Sturgis; two grandchildren, Janelle Jordan and husband, Greg of Colon, MI and Matt Smith of Sturgis; one great-grandson, Ian Jordan of Colon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and 11 brothers and sisters.
