Mr. Clarence W. Abernathy, 91 of Fort Payne died Wednesday in a Gadsden Hospital. Mr. Abernathy was born June 4, 1919, son of the late Preston and Lillie Haffard Abernathy. He was retired from the Trilex Mfc., and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Abernathy and Clarence Abernathy,jr, Jenny Abernathy, Ann Cochran, C.B., H.C. and Rieford Abernathy. Survivors include his Daughters, Penny Laugherty, Gadsden, Brenda Kennedy, Fort Payne and Linda Carter, Mi. Brothers, Frank Abernathy and Thomas Abernathy, Fort Payne. 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday from the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Walkers Chapel Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 4 PM until 8 PM Monday at Wilson Funeral Home.
