Clementia married Lafayette Bedal September 1869. They had nine children: Eva, Leonard, Milo, George, Franklin, Frank, John, Grace and J.A. In August 1882, Lafayette was killed in a sawmill accident leaving Minty to raise their children alone. After Lafayette's death, Minty went to work at the Willard Hotel in Aitkin and some of the children were farmed out. Leonard went to live with his paternal grandparents in Walnut Grove. George was living with Minty's half-sister Della and her family in Murray County in 1885. Frank went to live with the Owens family as a companion for their blind son Willie in Walnut Grove. In 1886, she married Ira Cornelius and they moved to Brainerd. After Ira died, Minty lived with her son, Leonard, until her death in 1927.
